Polychlorinated Biphenyls in Human Milk, UHT Cow’s Milk and Infant Formulas
نویسندگان
چکیده
The content of polychlorinated biphenyls was determined in human milk collected from four regions of Poland, as well as in cow’s milk and infant formulas. Significant statistical differences in PCB levels were determined in human milk depending on the region. The highest PCB mean concentration (0.351 mg.kg-1 milk fat) was determined in human milk from Gdańsk. An average of 0.218 mg PCB kg-1 milk fat was determined in human milk, 6 and 17 times higher than cow’s milk and infant formulas, respectively. Higher (37%) content of PCB was found in the milk of women living in rural regions.

Effect of Technological Treatments on Human-Like Leptin Level in Bovine Milk for Human Consumption
In this experiment, raw milk and commercially available full-cream UHT milk, semi-skimmed UHT milk, skimmed UHT milk, full-cream pasteurized milk, semi-skimmed pasteurized milk and infant formulas for babies between 6 and 12 months of age were analyzed by RIA, with a method using an antibody directed against human leptin and human leptin as reference standard. Raw milk and full-cream UHT milk d...
متن کاملAllergenic activity and ability to induce T cell and cytokine responses of different infant milk formulas
Background Many hydrolyzed cow’s milk (CM) formulas are available for avoidance of allergic reactions in cow’s milk allergic children and for prevention of allergy development in high risk infants. CM formulas were compared regarding the presence of immunoreactive CM components, IgE reactivity, allergenic activity, ability to induce T cell proliferation and allergic or pro-inflammatory cytokine...
متن کاملEvidence for the Absence of Amino Acid ,Isomerization in Microwave-Heated Milk and Infant Formulas
According to a recent paper (Lubec et al., 1989), microwave heating of milk or reconstituted infant formulas could induce the inversion of amino acid residues to a significantly higher extent than conventional heating. In this study, UHT milk and three different infant formulas were heated under two sets of conditions: 600 W for 3 min and 70 W for 20 min. When the proportions of D-amino acids w...

متن کاملDetecting a Rapid Method for Measuring the Proteolytic Activity of Raw and Uht Milk
The relation between age gelation and proteolytic activity was investigated in this study, as proteolysis is considered to be one of the principal factors that cause gelation. Two different methods for measuring the proteolytic activity of milk samples were applied; the measurement of absorbance at 280 nm and the trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS) method. The milk samples used were raw and UH...
